Honor a Father’s Contribution with Father’s Day
Fathers have, in their own significant manner, contributed towards a child’s upbringing. While, it is definitely a mother’s duty to look after the day-to-day needs of a child, a father devotes his time and life towards ensuring that the child lives a comfortable life. A father’s support is essential for both the mother and child.
Why Father’s Day is celebrated?
While the origin of the custom of Father’s Day is still unknown, there is a rough estimate that states that this celebration began close to 100 years ago, as a momentum to celebrate and honor the contribution of fathers in nurturing their children. Some people believe that Sonora Dodd, on hearing about Mother’s Day, expressed that Father’s Day should also be celebrated. Many fathers happen to be single parents raising their child, and it is necessary to honor them. It was only in 1910 that Father’s Day was officially instated as a day to be celebrated.
When is it celebrated?
Father’s Day is celebrated at different times as per the different cultures. But, one universal date or period adopted as Father’s Day is the third Sunday in June. This date is now widely recognized owing to the many gift shops and online stores raging to curb more customers.
How to Celebrate?
The whole idea is to make your father feel good about the day, and make him feel his contribution is being recognized and is significant. You can gift him something really nice. Fathers also love some creative handmade gift. So, why not take some pains and craft him a gift. For those who are good at cooking, you can try your hand at baking him a cake. This would make him happier.
It is not a national holiday, but being a Sunday you do have a lot of offers and celebrations doing rounds.
