Gandhi Jayanti, let’s remember our father of Nation
Mahatma Gandhi was entitled with the title, father of Nation. He was born and brought up in a Gujrati family at Porbandar. Every year on 2nd of October his Janm Jayanti is celebrated across the nation. It is a gazette holiday on 2nd October in India and has title of one of the National Festival. Mahatma Gandhi’s full name was Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi. He was also known by the name of Bapu. We can never forget his sacrifices for the independence of our nation. On the occasion of his birth ceremony all the government and public organizations are closed. There are many programs organized by the various government agencies on this day as per which leaders of the nation visit his Samadhi and pay their tribute.
Prayers and meetings at Rajghat
In India, Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated at a large scale as he is considered as the Pride of India. At Rajghat, which is Samadhi of Mahatma Gandhi, prayers and meetings are organized. President and Prime Minister of India mark their presence. Various prayers are sung by people. At schools Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated by organizing cultural programs. His Jayanti is also celebrated as the International Peace Day all over the world as per the notification of UNO. At many places non-violence rally is also conducted as he always believed in Non-Violence. Many people organize fair, exhibitions and painting competitions also where students takes part enthusiastically. Award ceremonies and group discussions based on his life is organized in cities and villages. People also used to read his life related books and autobiography. There are also programs organized at Gandhi Ashram which is memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. All the schools and colleges observe holiday for education work but there are many charity and other activities are organized on this day.
