Saint Madhavacharya is a leading saint of Nothern India. Madhvacharya Jayanti is celebrated in India every year. This is the day when people remember the works of Saint Madhwacharya. He was a great reformer and commentator of Brahma Sutra and Upanishads. His Janm Jayanti is observed in the month of Ashwin. He was the exponent of Dwait school of Philosophy which is also known as sad vaishnavism. Every year his Jayanti is celebrated on the occasion of Vijaya Dashmi or Dusshehra. According to his philosophy Lord Vishnu is the supreme power of everything and he lived in Vaikhuntha dham with his wife Goddess Shri Laxmi. He also said that all the living and non-living beings are dependent on Lord Vishnu. We can only attain moksha by devoting ourselves to Lord Vishnu.
There are a lot of celebrations are arranged by the Pushtimargiy vaishnav sect followers on this remarkable day as they consider Madhavacharya as their Guru. At various temples of this sect which are known as Havelis, grand decoration is done to observe the day. In the havelis various Shlokas, Ashtakas and Mantras are recited which were created by this leading saint. He has also done a lot of literary work to provide the easiest way to worshippers of Lord Vishnu. In many havelis there are also special puja organized to remember their guru. People, particularly the followers of this sect, seek his blessings on his birth anniversary which is believed that can provide one with the right path of life.
