Mahesh Navami: Worshipping of Lord Shiva
Mahesh Navami is celebrated by Maheshwari community. This community is very small in number and they have their own rituals and traditions. Mahesh Navami most commonly is celebrated in Northern parts of India. This day falls on the month Jayeshtha according to Hindu calendar. The devotees on this day worship Lord Shiva who is also known as Mahesh. It is believed that Lord Shiva appeared before his devotees on this day and that is why people celebrate this day with so much of enthusiasm. Those who want to attain salvation also worship the Lord with different pujas and seek his blessings.
Rituals to be done on Mahesh Navami
Mahesh Navami is greatly observed by people of Rajasthan. They worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati on this day. Temples are nicely decorated with flowers and the devotees are requested to attain serenity. It is highly recommended to newlywed people to seek blessings from the Lord and Goddess to attain blissful married life. On this day devotees chants prayers to Lord Shiva. It can be heard all throughout the night. There are not any strict rituals to be followed on this day. People pray with devotion to Lord Shiva. It is said that woman who want a child should pray with devotion and Lord Shiva will bless her on this day. There are various temples of Lord Shiva where people of Maheshwari community visit with family and seek blessings of the lord for the health, wealth and prosperity.
