Narak chaturdashi, celebrations before deepawali
India is the land of end number of festivals, but the Diwali is the main festival of India.
It is one of the main major festivals of Hindu religion. It is a week celebration and Narak Chaturdashi is one of them. Narak Chaturdashi is celebrated one day before the main festival of Deepawali. It is celebrated on the 14 day of Aso month. This day is also known and celebrated as Chhoti diwali in all many areas of India. Just like main festival of Deepawali people lit diya’s and candles on every corner of house. Although people do not fire many crackers on this day but they make many delicious delicacies. This day is also celebrated all over India. This is the main festival of Northern Part of India. People clean their house, they decorate it with lights and diya. They also make rangoli in the central part of the house. There are a lot of joy and delight for the celebration of this festival. The markets are flooded with various items of sweets, clothes and home décor items.
Tradition of taking oil bath
There are many customs which are done on the occasion of Narak Chaturdashi. People gets up early morning and apply oil and then take bath with hot water. Preparation for this custom is done a night before. Various flowers and mango leaves are filled with water in readiness for dawn. Besides this at many places people also break any biter fruit. And they apply kumkum oil paste on their forehead and take bath after that. At various places people remove the waste items of the home which is considered as a good omen that can remove the hurdles of life and bring in the health, wealth and prosperity.
