When is Ugadi

People in Deccan region of India celebrate ugadi as new year’s day. The word ugadi or yugadi is made from two words- yuga and adi. It means beginning of new age. It falls in the month of March/April as per the Gregorian calendar. It is believed that on this day Lord Brahma started creation of the world. This festival is known Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra.
