Vaishakha Purnima:Full moon day
As per the Hindu calendar, there are various months of the year. Vaisakha Purnima is a full moon day which falls in the month of Vaisakha. This day is considered as an auspicious day by both Hindus as well as Buddhists. For Buddhists this day is known as Budha Purnima. On this day Buddha devotees worship Gautam Buddha. To mark the importance of this day, Hindu devotees conduct puja and give offering to Lord Vishnu. At the temples of the Lord Vishnu, people sing various hymns, and pray with stotras. On this day, according to the legend Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of tortoise and helped the gods to defeat demons. So on Vaishakha Purnima, devotees worship this form of Lord Vishnu. In the Hinduism Lord Vishnu is considered as the god of worldly pleasure and those who follow him get all the worldly pleasure, prosperity and wealth.
Importance of Vaishakha Purnima
Vaishakha Purnima is an important day for all Hindus. It is the day to show devotion to Lord Vishnu and if you do this whole heartedly you will attain peace, prosperity and happiness. On this day people keep fast from sunrise to night till they see moon. Devotees of Lord Vishnu offer sesame seeds, ghee and sugar. This is also considered as an auspicious day to donate food and other items. Buddhists people on this day chant verses taught by Gautam Buddha and offer their services for various causes. They try to attain peace, kindness and harmony. People do offer flowers and light lamp and worship the idol of Buddha. All the Buddha temples are decorated to celebrate this day and the monks bless the devotees who come to worship the Lord at the temple.
